Online courses start in September-October 2023

In September-October 2023, the online courses Life Sciences, Microbes, Viruses and Infections, Bioinformatics, and Mathematical Statistics for Biologists were launched as part of a project to support Ukrainian biology students. This project was developed by a team of teachers and scientists from Ukraine and Germany with the financial support of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), on the initiative of Professor Olga Garaschuk, Director of the Institute of Physiology at the University of Tübingen (Germany), and Professor Volodymyr Lushchak, Professor of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology at the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University of Ivano-Frankivsk (Ukraine). These courses are the final courses of the grant in 2023. The courses are designed for biology students studying at Ukrainian universities who have partially or completely lost the opportunity to study in classrooms since the full-scale war. In total, more than 350 participants from different regions of Ukraine have registered for the courses. The universities of Kherson, Kyiv, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk are the most interested in taking the courses. Under the terms of the grant, 45% of the students from the main groups most affected by the war who successfully pass the course exam will be able to receive financial support in the form of a scholarship:
36 scholarships of 600 euros for the Integrated Life Sciences course;
27 scholarships of 400 Euros for Microbes, Viruses and Infections;
18 scholarships of 200 Euros each in Bioinformatics and 18 scholarships of 200 Euros each in Mathematical Statistics for Biologists.
