Maryna Skok

Doctor of biological sciences (2006), Professor (2014), Member of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (2018). She graduated from biological faculty of Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University (1979), defended PhD (1983) and Doctor (2006) theses at Palladin Institute of Biochemistry NAS of Ukraine. She performed internship in the Institute for Genetics, University of Cologne, Germany, supported by Olexander von Humboldt fellowship (1989-1990), collaborated with laboratories from Pasteur Institute (Paris, France) and Stony-Brook University of New-York (USA), and with other scientists from Greece, Israel, USA, France, Germany. She is the author of priority studies on the structure and function of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in B lymphocytes and on the role of nicotinic receptors in neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration. She taught Immunology in the National University “Kyiv-Mogyla Academy” (1995-2003) and in Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University (2019-2014); the lectures of 1995-2003 are summarized in the first Ukrainian manual on Basic Immunology (2002).
